CEC inaugurates Child Helpline Unit and Open Shelter in Leh

Leh, Nov 14: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson inaugurated the Child Helpline Unit and Open Shelter at the District Child Protection Office, Leh today.

 

Member Secretary Ladakh Legal Service Authority, Spalzes Angmo; Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board, District Social Welfare Officer Leh, SHO Women’s Police Station Leh, and various other officials and guests were present during the inauguration ceremony.

 

Speaking on the occasion, CEC Gyalson emphasised the importance of child protection and the role of the ERSS Dial 112 helpline in addressing social harms and child abuse. He also highlighted the need for proper guidance to children especially on the harmful effects of drug abuse. He commended the efforts of the Social & Tribal Welfare Department, Leh in implementing schemes like Mission Vatsalya and reaching out to every corner of the district to ensure coverage of all social welfare schemes. He reiterated the Hill Council, Leh’s commitment to ensure assistance, especially in providing quality education to underprivileged students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.
