In a significant step towards maintaining transparency and upholding the integrity of the electoral process, the quarterly inspection of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) warehouse of Leh district was conducted today at the Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra.
The inspection was carried out under the supervision of the Chief Electoral Officer, Leh, Shri Rahul Sharma, IAS. He was accompanied by the Nodal Officer for EVM, Leh, Sonam Chosjor (JKAS), and Deputy District Election Officer Padma Angmo (JKAS). Representatives of various political parties, including BJP, Congress, and AAP, were also present during the inspection, in strict adherence to established electoral protocols.
During the visit, the officials thoroughly reviewed the security arrangements at the warehouse. This included a detailed verification of EVM and VVPAT units, inspection of storage conditions, and confirmation of the proper sealing of warehouse doors to ensure the safety and integrity of the electronic voting equipment.
The quarterly inspection is a routine yet mandatory exercise, conducted in the presence of political party representatives during both the opening and closing of the warehouse. Such inspections play a crucial role in reinforcing transparency, building public confidence, and ensuring strict compliance with the norms laid down by the Election Commission of India.
The District Election Administration reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections by regularly monitoring and safeguarding all electoral infrastructure.
