Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh inaugurates awareness-cum-training programme on “Mediation” in Kargil

 

Kargil, August 26, 2023: A one-day awareness-cum-training programme on “Mediation” for members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers of District Kargil organized by Mediation and Conciliation Committee of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in collaboration with Ladakh Legal Services Authority, was inaugurated today by Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh at Auditorium Hall Kargil.

 

The inauguration of the one day awareness programme on mediation marks a significant step towards achieving the constitutional goal of access to justice for all.

 

On the occasion, the Chief Justice was accompanied by Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Chairman Mediation and Conciliation Committee of High Court. The resource persons for the programme were Dr Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, Judge Delhi High Court and Nagina Jain, Advocate Senior Mediator.

 

Present on the occasion were M.K Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, Rajinder Sapru Coordinator Mediation and Conciliation Committee, Iqbal Ahmad Masoudi, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kargil, Spalzes Angmo, Member Secretary Ladakh Legal Services Authority, Phuntsog Angmo, CJM/Secretary DLSA Kargil, Shafiq Mushtaq Lone, Munsiff/JMIC, Sankoo, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din, ADC Kargil, Manzoor Ahmad DySP HQ Kargil, Reyaz Ahmad Khan President Association Kargil and other members of the Bar, District Officers, Sarpanches, Panches, Panel Lawyers and PLVs of District Kargil.

 

Speaking on the occasion Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Ladakh stated that Mediation is an effective tool to resolve disputes and endeavor should be made by the public at large to resolve the disputes through ADR mechanism.

 

Further, he mentioned that for the first time such a programme for the Panchayati Raj institutions has been organized by the High Court in Kargil and such programmes play an effective role in making the people aware about the alternate dispute resolution methods.

 

Justice Tashi Rabstan Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Chairman Mediation and Conciliation Committee stressed upon the need to use and the benefits of Mediation as a tool for dispute resolution. He urged the participants to take maximum benefit out of this training. He also addressed the gathering in local language. Thereafter, Justice Tashi Rabstan conducted the inspection of the District Court Complex Kargil.

 

Welcome address was delivered by Rajinder Sapru Coordinator Mediation and Conciliation Committee, the vote of thanks by Spalzes Angmo, Member Secretary Ladakh Legal Services Authority and program was moderated by Phuntsog Angmo, CJM/Secretary DLSA Kargil.
