Cluster University of Srinagar Flags Off Men’s Badminton Team for North Zone Inter-University Tournament at C.T. University, Chandigarh

Srinagar, December 28:

Cluster University of Srinagar today flagged off its Men’s Badminton Team to participate in the North Zone Inter-University Badminton Tournament, scheduled to be held at C.T. University, Ludhiana , Punjab. The prestigious sporting event will witness participation from universities representing various States and Union Territories across the country.

The flag-off ceremony was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) G.M. Lone, Sports Secretary, Cluster University of Srinagar, besides Dr. Aqib Khanday, Assistant Professor (CUS), who is also the manager of the team on tour, Murtaza Fazily, Assistant Professor (CUS), and other concerned officers were present during the ceremony.

Professor Lone extended his best wishes to the athletes and urged them to uphold discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship during the competition. He reiterated the university’s commitment towards promoting sports culture and strengthening co-curricular engagement among students, expressing confidence that the team would perform with excellence at the zonal level.

The university team comprises five male badminton players drawn from different constituent colleges of Cluster University of Srinagar, reflecting the institution’s diverse representation and inclusive sports development framework. The team will compete against leading university contingents from across the North Zone.

Dr. Aqib Khanday, while interacting with the players, motivated them to remain focused, perform as a cohesive unit, and make optimum use of the exposure gained through inter-university competition. He emphasized the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and confidence in achieving sporting success.

The students assured the officers that they would put forth their best efforts and uphold the reputation of Cluster University of Srinagar through disciplined conduct and commendable performance during the tournament.

Pertinently, Cluster University of Srinagar continues to strengthen its focus on sports and co-curricular activities as an integral part of holistic education, providing students with suitable platforms to showcase their talent, build character, and compete at national and international levels.
