By Drass, September 26: Deputy Commissioner Drass Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS) visited Thasgam, Sumat, Jasgund, Dandal and Dandalthang to assess developmental needs and interact with residents on issues concerning education, healthcare, roads, drinking water, power, tourism and livelihoods.
During public interactions, residents raised demands related to school upgradation, healthcare facilities, road connectivity, water supply, teachers, JJM works, sports infrastructure and compensation for damages.
The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned officers to examine the issues and take appropriate action. He also stressed cleanliness, waste management and avoidance of plastic, while encouraging homestays, local food stalls, tourism and other livelihood activities.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant against drug abuse and highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to address human-brown bear conflict.
The tour also included inspections of ongoing infrastructure works, including the cricket stadium and ice hockey rink at Thasgam and the new High School building at Chowkiyal.
