DC Kargil chairs review meeting for National Road Safety Month 2024

 

Kargil, Jan 16: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse today chaired a meeting to discuss the preparations for the National Road Safety Month being observed from January 15 to February 14, 2024.

 

The meeting was attended by ADC Kargil, Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, DySP (HQ), DySP Traffic, Executive Engineer R&B, Kargil, Chief Education Officer, Kargil, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Kargil, officers from BRO, Police, Army and other concerned departments, volunteers from NYK Kargil and Ladakh Tribal Foundation.

 

The meeting discussed various initiatives for National Road Safety Month including awareness rallies, volunteer involvement, medical check-ups for drivers, behaviour orientation, first aid training for drivers, public and other road safety measures.

 

The Deputy Commissioner advised various strategies for a successful Road Safety Month and stressed on proactive measures for public safety.

 

The DC directed the concerned officials to pinpoint blind spots, bottlenecks and areas requiring crash barriers on the National Highway and initiate corrective measures on priority.

 

He further directed to make arrangements for medical check-ups of government drivers, taxi drivers and truck drivers during the Road Safety Month.

 

Pertaining to awareness on road safety, DC Shrikant directed the concerned officers to engage NGOs, theatre groups and ensure publicity for awareness among the public.

 

The CEO Kargil was directed to facilitate student participation in painting and drawing competition as part of National Road Safety Month.

 

The DC directed Municipal Committee Kargil to identify the parking spaces in the market.

 

Officers from several departments gave their suggestions to improve road conditions and enhance overall infrastructure for the betterment of road transport. During the meeting, the preparations regarding the snow clearance by NHIDCL were also reviewed for NH 301.
