DC Santosh reviews arrangements ahead of Zanskar Winter Sports and Tourism Festival

Kargil, Jan 18, 2023: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today chaired a meeting to review the arrangement for Zanskar Winter Sports and Tourism Festival (2022-23) to be held from January 28 to February 15.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil, A. G. Zargar, Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Abdul Hadi, Superintending Engineer R&B, Abdul Mutalib, Superintending Engineer PHE, Maqbool Hussain, SDM Zanskar, CMO Kargil, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, DPO/AD Information, Deputy Director Employment, DYSSO, AD Tourism besides other concerned officers and officials of other departments attended the meeting.

SDM Zanskar briefed the meeting about the arrangements and requirements for successfully conducting the winter festival. He informed that the event is likely to be inaugurated by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports & Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur.

A threadbare discussion was held on various aspects of the arrangement related to the successful conduct of the annual event and various decisions were also taken in the meeting.

DC Santosh directed the concerned departments to ensure all arrangements with regard to the festival like water supply, medical facilities, ambulances, tents, boarding and lodging of participants.

During the meeting, the DPO/AD Information requested for accommodation of reporters and photographers during the event to which the DC directed Tourism Department to make the arrangement for the same. She also requested for the transportation of PA system, to which the DC assured to provide the same.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all the concerned officers to put in place adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of sports and cultural programs. The pending dues of participants in the previously held Zanskar festivals were also discussed in detail.
