D&FCO & LPMRU holds awareness campaign in Khaltse
Leh, Dec 05: In continuation of its campaign, the Drugs and Food Control Organisation, Leh along with Ladakh Price Monitoring and Research Unit (LPMRU) held an awareness campaign regarding the Consumer Awareness, Publicity and Price Monitoring (CAPPM) Scheme on medicine and medical devices and prevention of drug abuse and illicit trafficking at Khaltse sub-division.
Departmental officers/officials from Health, Education, ICDS, Legal Services, and Agriculture besides public representatives, including Sarpanches, Panches, Nambardars, Women organisations, Women Help Groups, ASHA workers and chemists participated in the orientation programme.
In charge Drug Controller, UT Ladakh; BMO Khaltse; Drugs Control Officer, Leh; Project Coordinator LPMRU and Field Investigator LPMRU were the main speakers.
The speakers extensively shared about the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of CAPPM related to medicines, medical devices and advisories regarding purchasing and consuming medicines. They also spoke about the menace of drug and substance abuse among adolescents, illicit trafficking and the measures to prevent it.
All the participants were urged to play a proactive role in the prevention of drug abuse and illicit trafficking and help the administration in eradicating the drug menace from society and guide the public by sharing their knowledge on the importance of proper storage and usage of medicines.
This awareness campaign by D&FCO and LPMRU was held simultaneously with the National Gender Campaign in Khaltse.
