Director Agriculture Kashmir, Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal attends training-cum-workshop on implementation of PMFBY in Kargil

Kargil, June 27, 2023: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal today attended the one-day training-cum-workshop on the implementation of “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna” (PMFBY) for the officers/officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Kargil District, UT, Ladakh.

The training program was hosted by the Agriculture and the Horticulture Department Kargil at Conference Hall, Chief Agriculture Office, Kargil.

A request was made to the Administrative Secretary Agriculture Department, J&K UT by Administrative Secretary Agriculture UT Ladakh for deputation of an expert for the implementation of PMFBY. For this, the Director Agriculture Kashmir was here as a resource person/expert.

During the program, the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Choudhary Mohammad Iqbal gave a detailed presentation on the initial steps needed for the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS).

At the outset of the training program, the Choudhary talked in detail about the need and importance of insurance schemes for the farmers.

Besides highlighting the important features and objectives of PMFBY/RWBCIS which are beneficial for the farmers at this critical period, the director also talked about the financial support provided by the government under the insurance scheme for the welfare of farmers.

He elaborated in detail the farmers, the crops, the risks and the notified areas that are covered under the PMFBY/RWBCIS insurance schemes. During the training program, areas and production of different crops in UT, Ladakh were also thoroughly discussed.

During the training program, the director said Kargil District is bestowed with the unique agriculture as well as the horticulture products like best quality apricots, sea buckthorn etc.

He also advised the officers to work with dedication and remain connected with the farmers to make the farmers more and more progressive.

The other dignitaries who attended the training program includes the Chief Agriculture Officer, Kargil, Kacho Mohd Ali Khan, Chief Horticulture Officer, Kargil, Raza Ali, State Nodal Officer, District Agriculture Officer, Conservation Officer and other officers and officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department Kargil.

In the end, CAO, Kacho Mohd Ali Khan presented vote of thanks. He thanked the Director Agriculture Kashmir for his participation in the training program.

He also thanked the other officers and the staff members of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department Kargil for making the event successful.
