District Kargil Olympic Association welcomes Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh Tahir Hussain Zubdavi

District Kargil Olympic Association (DKOA) today formally welcomed the newly appointed Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi.

Secretary DKOA Syed Mehraj Ud Din Shah, along with members Anayat Ali Shotopa, Zaheer Abbas Khan, and Mohd Ali Baghi, presented a memento and traditional Khataks to the Joint Director on behalf of the sports fraternity of Kargil.

Syed Mehraj Ud Din Shah congratulated Tahir Hussain Zubdavi and highlighted the historic achievement of Rinchen Youdol, who secured a bronze medal at the World Para Taekwondo Championship. He attributed this milestone to Zubdavi’s significant role in supporting her journey to Bahrain. Shah further urged the Joint Director to prioritize streamlining the sports sector in Ladakh and emphasized the need for smooth functioning of the Sports Council and early formation of Sports Policy.

Expressing his gratitude, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi acknowledged the efforts of DKOA and assured that the Sports Council would soon commence operations. He also informed that the Sports Policy is in its final stages of approval.

The Joint Director outlined his vision for the development of sports in Ladakh, promising initiatives to transform the region into a hub for sports activities. He emphasized the potential of sports tourism to bolster Ladakh’s primary industry—tourism. He added that organizing national and international events would significantly boost this sector, supported by ongoing efforts to establish robust sports infrastructure in the Union Territory.
