EC Tashi reviews status of works under Tourism, PWD sectors in Zanskar

KARGIL, JUNE 02, 2021

Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsok Tashi today convened a meeting to take stock of the ongoing developmental works being undertaken by the Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA), Tourism and Public Works Department (PWD) at Conference Hall Padum Zanskar here today.

During the course of the meeting, the concerned officers apprised the EC Tourism that ZDA has taken in hand different works in Zanskar such as beautification of Sani Lake, Sheela Waterfall, Padum Khar, Eidgah Padum, Eco/Buddha Park at Forest Park Padum and other related works.

The meeting was further informed that 3 traditional welcome gates have been proposed at Penzila, Shinkula, and Manayringmo Padum.

EC Phunsok Tashi informed on the occasion that an Rs 7.15 crore have been sanctioned for tourism sector related works under the State Sector and District Capex Budget for the financial year 2021-2022.

EC Tashi directed the CEO, ZDA to complete the tendering process for the newly sanctioned works including renovation of pilgrimage sites and other developmental works at the earliest possible.

While taking stock of works undertaken by the PWD Department, the EC Tourism was informed about the status of ongoing works on the construction of irrigation canals, link roads and other infrastructure related works.

The officers of PWD Department informed the EC that the construction of Civil Helipad at Tungri Zangla, Kargyak of Lungnak Block has been tendered and allotted and the work will commence within a week’s time.

EC Tashi directed the concerned officers and engineers to complete the allotted works for construction of doctors quarters and other infrastructure related works of Health Department Zanskar.

He also issued directions to complete the construction of Ice Hockey Rink and Zanskar Sarai at Leh on top priority and said that there are no any issues of funds pertaining to these works.

The EC Zanskar Affairs directed the officers concerned to process the tendering of the sanctioned developmental works for the financial year 2021-2022, with focus on completion of the works keeping in view the short working season, adding he said that the contractors should be directed to start the works in a timely manner.

SDM Zanskar/CEO, ZDA Sonam Dorjay, Executive Engineer PWD Department Zanskar Muhammad Abbas, Assistant Tourist Officer Zanskar, Assistant Executive Engineers of ZDA and PWD Zanskar besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
