The District Administration Kargil carried out a major encroachment removal drive today along the busy stretch from the BSNL Office Kargil up to Goma Kargil, following the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Kargil. The initiative aimed to clear roadside obstructions to ensure smooth traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and public convenience.
Joint Operation by Multiple Departments
The drive was conducted under the supervision of a coordinated team comprising:
Tehsildar Kargil SHO Kargil AEE R&B Naib Tehsildar Kargil Inspector Traffic Officials of the Municipal Committee Kargil
Their collective efforts ensured efficient identification and removal of illegal structures and obstructing materials.
Obstructions Identified and Removed
During the operation, authorities found several types of encroachments that hindered safe road usage, including:
Water tanks and sand heaps Stones and debris Construction materials Other items placed along the roadside
All such obstructions were removed on the spot to restore the full width of the roadway. The enforcement team also used the opportunity to sensitize shopkeepers, residents, and construction workers about maintaining road discipline and keeping public spaces free from unauthorized occupation.

The Deputy Commissioner Kargil appealed to citizens to cooperate in maintaining clear and obstruction-free roadways, emphasizing that such measures are crucial for:
