Forest Division Kargil celebrates World Forest Day

Kargil, March 21, 2024: In connection with the World Forest Day, Forest Division Kargil today organized a program on the theme “Forests and Innovation” at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Khumbathang, Kargil.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, who is also chairman of JNV, attended the program as chief guest, ADC Kargil, Suhail Ahmed was guest of honor, DFO Kargil Mohd Ali, Principal JNV Kumar Ashwini Amitabh, CMO Kargil Liyaqat Ali, district officers, teachers, students and staff of Forest Division Kargil participated in the event.

The program commenced with an environmental awareness rally within the school campus in which the dignitaries, students, teachers and staff of Forest Department participated.

The rally was aimed to create awareness on the importance of forests in our life and sensitizes people on how to protect forests and the environment. The rally was followed by a ceremonial plantation at the School campus by the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC, Kargil Shrikant Suse and ADC Kargil Suhail Ahmed and other distinguished guests.

As the snow still covers the ground on campus, a large-scale tree planting initiative is planned for the upcoming months at the school campus.

During his address, the Deputy Commissioner praised the speech delivered by the students of JNV School and emphasized the need for a lifestyle change to foster a clean environment. He urged everyone to take collective responsibility for safeguarding the fragile environment and to disseminate this message throughout the broader community.

DFO Kargil, Mohd Ali in his welcome address welcomed all the guests for their participation in the event. He briefly introduced the audience to the significance of celebrating the crucial day and stressed to act as ambassadors of the environment.

Principal JNV, Kumar Ashwini Amitabh also spoke during the occasion and appreciated the Kargil Forest Division for such an informative and beneficial program at JNV School. He urged the audience to adopt a practical approach to protect the environment.

On the occasion, students also delivered speeches on the importance of the day.
Later on, a prize distribution and memento ceremony was held, in which students who secured positions in slogan competitions were awarded and momentos were given to the dignitaries. In the end, Range Officer Sankoo Range, Niyaz Ali presented the vote of thanks.
