Swachh Ladakh Campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: GDC Drass organizes youth parliament

KARGIL, AUGUST 14, 2021: As a part of the ongoing Swachh Ladakh Campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Government Degree College (GDC) Drass on Friday  organized a youth parliament on the theme- Cleanliness: Speak Up and Bring a Change.

The programme was aimed to raise awareness regarding cleanliness through student representatives from their respective villages. Around 19 students representing various villages participated in the youth parliament. Representatives put forth issues pertaining to their villages and localities in the session. Many issues regarding dirt and pollution in the villages were raised while some solutions of sustainable living were shared.

Principal GDC Drass Dr Amjad Ali Abaasi while addressing the students appreciated the participants for their speeches. He urged the students to take cleanliness as a habit in their daily life and keep the college and other places clean and tidy.

The session was chaired by Dr Shahid Nabi Lecturer English and adjudged by Mustafa Ali Director Physical Education and Sports, Saira Bano Librarian and Jabir Hussain Lecturer EVS.

Shakila Banoo student of 1st semester, Khatija Kubra of 1st semester and Rubina Banoo of 3rd semester secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Jigmet Sangyas Assistant Professor Political Science.
