Highest KVK in India Launches 16-Day Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign from Tukla Village

Leh, December 18, 2025: KVK Nyoma (Leh-II), the highest Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the country, launched a 16-day Swachhata Pakhwada campaign from Tukla Village on December 16, 2025. The campaign will continue till December 31, 2025, as part of the nationwide cleanliness drive.

The campaign was inaugurated under the leadership of Dr. Phuntsog Tundup, Head KVK Nyoma, with active participation from KVK scientists, staff members, farmers, villagers, and community representatives.

On the inaugural day, a Swachhata Pledge was administered, first to farmers and later to KVK staff, reaffirming collective commitment towards maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene in their surroundings.

As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative, multiple cleanliness drives and awareness programs will be held across different locations in the Nyoma and Durbuk subdivisions. The cleanliness drive will cover riverbanks, dumping sites, KVK office premises, stores, nearby public spaces, KVK farms, schools, monasteries, and nearby villages. These activities are aimed at promoting responsible waste management, environmental hygiene, and encouraging active community participation.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tashi Dolkar, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), highlighted that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and a crucial element of public health and sustainable agriculture. She urged villagers and farmers to practice cleanliness as a daily habit and spread awareness within their communities.

The KVK Nyoma team also worked proactively to mobilize villagers and sensitize participants on maintaining hygienic surroundings and adopting healthy living practices.

The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, villagers, students, and staff members, who collectively pledged to keep their villages, farms, institutions, and public spaces clean and hygienic.
