IIIM-Technology Business Incubator organizes city camp on entrepreneurship development at GDC Drass

 

Kargil, Sep 26, 2023: Pr. Scientist, CSIR-IIIM & Principal Investigator, IIM-TBI Jammu, Dr. Saurabh Saran and Coordinator/CEO, IIIM-TBI, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, Er. Ankush Varma organized a city camp on entrepreneurship development in Government Degree College, Drass.

 

The purpose of the city camp was to create awareness about start-ups, understanding the challenges of being an entrepreneur and the importance of skill-based trainings.

 

The programme was conducted under the aegis of “Bio-NEST”. The Bio-NEST was launched by “BIRAC”, a Not-for-profit public sector enterprise that was set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India in 2012, with a vision that focuses on fostering the biotech innovation ecosystem in the country.

 

Shabir Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Commerce kick-started the session by sensitizing the audience about the importance of technology in entrepreneurship and its future in India.

 

Further proceeding into the session, the guest speakers were honoured with traditional khataks followed by welcome speech by Assistant Professor of Physics, Mumtaz Ahmad.

 

The guest speaker, Dr. Saurabh Saran, briefed about the Bio-NEST and how enterprising ideas in the biotech sector need incubation support and how people need a landing space to test their ideas, run their operations, have access to high end instrumentations and locate in a place where they connect with other start-ups and mentors.

 

Er. Ankush Varma, spoke at length about the existing facilities in IIIM-Technology Business Incubator (TBI), how it offers intellectual, financial and infrastructural support to entrepreneurs, new start-ups, researchers, students who plan to materialize their ideas into commercially successful ventures.

 

Moreover, the speaker mentioned few examples of those who got training in TBI and then went on to become successful entrepreneurs in their respective fields.

 

The faculty members and students of GDC Drass, students of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Drass and Govt. Higher Secondary School, Bhimbhat took part in the camp.

 

The session concluded with a healthy interactive segment during which students posed questions, and the speakers provided them with satisfying answers.
