Inter-school tournament concludes at Taisuru

KARGIL, OCTOBER 05, 2022:

Zonal Physical Education Officer Taisuru today successfully concluded the Inter-School Tournament 2022 here at Thulus Spang, Taisuru.

In the three day long-running-tournament, 72 teams including 580 boys and 500 girls’ players of Under-14 and Under-17 age group from 36 government and private schools showcased their brilliant performances in volleyball, handball and athletics.

Councilor Taisuru, Aga Syed Abass Rizvi was the chief guest on the final ceremony while Principal Higher Secondary School Biama Purtikchey, Yahya Khan was the guest of honour. Chairman Teacher’s forum Kargil Ladakh Feroze Ahmad Kakroo was the special guest. Inchrage BMO Taisuru, incharge SHO Taisuru, and Headmasters from different High Schools and Middle Schools were also present as guests on the occasion.

While speaking on the occasion, Mohd Ishaq Jarnail, Zonal Physical Education Officer highlighted that Taisuru Zone has shortage of PEM/PETs as such all other officials are invited from the neighboring zones to smoothly conduct the tournaments.

The ZPEO requested the Councilor to take up the matter with the UT Administration and fill up the vacant posts of various schools on fast-track basis.

The ZPEO reminded that a Sports Stadium at Khawous, a divisional level Ice Hockey Rink at Yuljuk is under construction under SDP which will be ready by the end of this year. He added that a Ponds Ice hockey has been constructed under SDP at Kargee.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports has developed sports infrastructure at two Higher Secondary Schools, six High schools, 14 Middle Schools, and four Primary Schools of Taisuru. He thanked the Councilor and Tehsildar Taisuru Sajad Hussain for their support in the completion of SDP works. The DYSS UT Ladakh has also issued necessary sports and games equipment to the schools to further boost the sports culture in the zone.

Rizvi said he will allocate funds to boost sports activities in the zone and emphasized the general public to generously provide land for the construction of sports infrastructure in the zone. He advised students to focus on their game of specialization and be consistent and work hard work which is important for becoming professional players.

On the occasion, Yahya Khan advised the players to take part in sports activities to remain physically and mentally fit.

Chairman Teacher’s Forum Kargil Ladakh, also stressed on the young players that being athletic and sportive is the need of the hour. He said there is no dearth of talent and many players have represented Ladakh in various national games which is noteworthy.

In the final match for U/17 boys volleyball tournament, Govt. High School Kargee defeated Noon Public High School Taisuru. The GHS Kargee won the final match by one set grabbing the winners’ position in their favour whereas Noon Public High School Taisuru remained as the runner-up position this year.

In the final ceremony, the chief guest Rizvi and Yahya Khan and all other guests conferred 12 medals, 16 mamentos and 190 certificates to honor the winner and runner-up teams. They were appreciated for taking part in the tournament and making it successful.
