Kargil, December 04, 2025:

The rZamba Trust, in partnership with Royal Enfield, held a review meeting with Village Education Committees (VECs) from various schools to assess and further strengthen the Winter Alternative Learning Programme. The session was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, VEC representatives, and the rZamba team led by CEO Shifa Saldon.
The programme opened with a welcome note from Shifa Saldon, who greeted the attendees and outlined the objectives of the gathering.
Addressing the participants, ADC Imteeaz Kacho applauded rZamba for consistently rolling out effective and innovative education initiatives across Kargil. He noted that the organisation’s efforts have inspired communities to actively form and support Village Education Committees. Highlighting the importance of child-centred education, he stated that the nation’s progress depends on guiding children in the right direction from an early age.

Kacho stressed that a nurturing, home-like environment and meaningful activities encourage children to participate in schooling willingly, which enhances early childhood learning. He further emphasised that education should reflect a child’s abilities and interests rather than parental expectations.
Underscoring the role of socio-emotional development, he said that true education focuses on the holistic growth of children—not on making them mechanical learners. He added that modern education must evolve with the times while staying rooted in culture, tradition, and ethical values.
During the event, Shifa Saldon delivered an in-depth presentation on rZamba’s Winter Alternative Learning Programme, currently being implemented in 20 remote regions of UT Ladakh. She thanked teachers, students, VEC members, and the wider community for their continuous support and collaboration.
