Ladakh Police Kargil Recovers 18 Kg of Poppy Straw, Arrested Culprits

KARGIL,SEPTEMBER 19: In Continuing its war against drug trafficking and substance abuse, District Police Kargil achieved another major success within 24hours by recovering approximately 18 Kgs of Poppy Straw from a fuel tanker on NH1D between Sumat and Thasgam, Drass.

While conducting naka checking, police party of Police Station Drass stopped a suspected person at NH1D road near army camp Thasgam and searched a fuel tanker bearing reg. no. HR37E 7373. During checking of the said tanker, approximately 18 kgs of Poppy Straw like substance recovered from the tanker, accordingly seized the recovered substance and arrested the suspected person on spot.

In this regard Case FIR no. 25/2023 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Drass and further investigation is underway.

As per a Press handout District Police Kargil appealed to the general public to come with any information regarding drug peddlers in order to curb drug menace and save our young generation and reiterated that anyone found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under the law.

Its Pertinent to mention here that on 17th of September district Police Kargil has recovered 34 Kgs of Poppy Straw like Substance from the tankers and arrested the culprits.
