Kargil, September 18, 2026: Ladakh Times conducted an internship selection drive at Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil for students of the Graphic Design Skill Centre, offering an opportunity to gain practical field experience in media, graphic designing, content creation and digital communication.
A total of seven students, including pass-out students, were selected for a three-month internship programme with Ladakh Times.
The programme was attended by In-charge Principal GDC Kargil Dr. Ishaq, Skill Committee Convener Prof. Stanzin Norphail, Skill Committee Member Prof. Shabir Hussain, Graphic Design Instructor Nazir Ahmad, students of the 5th semester and pass-out students. From Ladakh Times, Editor-in-Chief Muzammil Mustafa, Deputy Editor Mohammed Abass and Web Manager Manzoor Hussain Babu were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the In-charge Principal stressed the importance of gaining practical, field-based experience alongside academic learning. He encouraged students to focus not only on government job opportunities but also on developing their skills, exploring entrepreneurship and learning how to monetise their talents.
He highlighted the scope of graphic designing, advertising, videography, content creation and other creative fields, and encouraged students to make use of innovative ideas and available opportunities to build professional careers.
The Principal also appreciated the collaboration between the Graphic Design Skill Centre and Ladakh Times, stating that such internships provide students with hands-on exposure and help refine their abilities. He also highlighted the relevance of internship-based learning within the curriculum, including the provision for internship courses carrying credits in the final semester.
Prof. Shabir Hussain and Prof. Stanzin Norphail also spoke about the importance of industry-academic partnerships and the benefits such collaborations provide to students. They also briefed the gathering about initiatives related to entrepreneurship, including Enterprising Ladakh, and encouraged students to explore opportunities beyond conventional employment.
Later, Editor-in-Chief Ladakh Times Muzammil Mustafa briefed the students about the functioning of a digital news organisation and the different roles involved in media production. He explained the responsibilities of the web management team, content uploading, digital publishing and other aspects of online media operations.
