L-G VK Saxena Approves Change from Blue to White Uniform to Give Traffic Police a Smart, Distinctive Appearance
Leh, September 25: The Ladakh Traffic Police has adopted a new uniform, with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena approving the change from the earlier sky-blue attire to a crisp white uniform.
The change has been introduced to enhance the visibility of Traffic Police personnel and provide them with a smart, neat and professional appearance while on duty across the Union Territory.
The new uniform is also intended to establish a distinct visual identity for the Traffic Police and ensure a consistent appearance among personnel deployed for traffic regulation and road-safety duties.
The decision follows observations that the earlier sky-blue uniform closely resembled the attire worn by students in several local schools, at times making traffic personnel less distinguishable from the general public.
White uniforms are already used by Traffic Police personnel in Delhi and several other parts of the country. The new uniform in Ladakh is in line with this widely followed practice and is expected to improve the visibility of personnel on busy roads.
The Lieutenant Governor said the change was aimed at providing the Traffic Police with a fresh and professional identity while strengthening discipline and a sense of pride among personnel performing their responsibilities of traffic regulation and assisting road users.
