LPCC distributes Noise Level Meter to various depts

Leh, Sept 24: Ladakh Pollution Control Committee (LPCC), UT Ladakh, conducted a one-day training/workshop/distribution of Noise Level Meter today at the DC Conference Hall, Leh. The training was imparted to the officials of Traffic Police Leh, Municipal Committee Leh and Revenue Department Leh.

Speaking on the occasion, Member Secretary, Ladakh Pollution Control Committee, Sajjad Hussain Mufti briefed the participants about the orders of National Green Tribunal (NGT) order particularly O.A No 681/2018 dt:06-08-2019 in which NGT directed States/UTs State Pollution Control Board (SPCBs) and the Police Department to obtain Noise Monitoring Devices and to train the staff regarding the use of such devices and to develop a robust protocol for taking action including fixing of Noise meters with data loggers on the equipment used for creating noise.

Later, the Member Secretary distributed eight Noise Level Meters (NLM) to Traffic Police Leh, one NLM to Municipal Committee, Leh and one NLM to Revenue Department, Leh.

He further stated that all departments can enforce the provision Noise Rule in respect of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order no. 681/2108 dated 06.08.2019 in a strong manner.

The event was also graced by the presence of Regional Director, Ladakh Pollution Control Committee, Aditya Madanpotra; District Officer, LPCC Leh, Ruksana Parveen and trainers from outside UT of Ladakh.
