Market inspection conducted in Kargil, shopkeepers face penalties

 

Kargil, Nov 30: A comprehensive market checking was conducted today in Kargil led by Deputy SP, HQ, Kargil, SHO, Police Station Kargil, Naib Tehsildar, Executive Officer MC Kargil, TSO FCS &CA, Kargil, Inspector Drug Controller Kargil and Inspector Food Safety Kargil.

 

During the inspection of Kiryana shops, tea stalls, chemist shops, vegetable and fruit shops, bakery shops, held at Kargil spanning from Islamiya School Chowk to Hanfia Masjid Chowk via Old Market Kargil. A total of approximately 105 shops underwent scrutiny during the operation.

 

Out of the establishments inspected, 21 shops were found in violation, resulting in fines amounting to Rs 16,500 and two chemist shops were closed on spot.

 

Additionally, a quantity of edible items was seized, and subsequently destroyed in the presence of the officers.

 

The Deputy SP HQ, and Naib Tehsildar Kargil advised all shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness in their establishments and refrain from displaying expired items.

 

Furthermore, the police instructed the shop owners to install CCTV cameras to ensure accountability.
