Meeting on draft drawing of Indoor Sports Complex Kargil held

KARGIL, FEBRUARY 09, 2022: A meeting regarding the construction of Indoor Sports Complex to be set up in Kargil at the existing Indoor Stadium near Hussaini Park was today held which was headed by Chief Planning Officer Kargil, Abdul Hadi.

The meeting was attended by DYSSO Kargil, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Executive Officer MC Kargil, Shafqat Ali, In-charge SAI Kargil, Secretary Ladakh Taekwondo Association, Anayat Ali Shotopa, Secretary Ladakh Handball Association Muhammad Ali, Senior Karate Instructor, Mohammad Hassan, ZEPO Tai Suru and Representative Ladakh Olympic Association Kargil Muhammad Ishaq, General Secretary Ladakh Wushu Association and Treasurer District Kargil Olympic Association Safdar Ali, Senior Coach and International Taekwondo Player Muhammad Ali and representatives of the consulting agency WAPCOS Ltd.

During the meeting, the CPO said the meeting was arranged on the direction of CEC LAHDC Kargil and Secretary Sports UT Ladakh, so that concerned sports associations can put forth their suggestion and discuss the proposed drawing of the stadium.

While presenting the drawings of the sports complex, it was informed that it would be constructed in three levels: the basement level would include parking space, ground-level would include change rooms, washing area with sauna, Martial Arts Arena, storeroom, boxing rings and playing area for table tennis.

The level-1 would accommodate a large multipurpose hall that could accommodate two badminton courts and can also be used for other sports activities. A separate washroom, changing room as well as locker system has been included in the drawing.

The representatives of different sports associations suggested the increase in height of the multipurpose hall with an additional 1 meter so that Volleyball game can also be included.

Similarly, Foldable Indoor Pavilion, Solar Passive Building as well as use of Thermal Mass particularly mud so that minimum wastage of heat can be ensured.

The associations also requested the administration to increase the area by including more than 10 feet land from Hussaini Park to the Indoor Sports Complex.

The project has been sanctioned under the Special Development Package (SDP) 2022 while WAPCOS Ltd. has been hired as the consulting agency.

Anayat Ali Shotopa on behalf of all sports associations of Kargil thanked CEC LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan and Secretary Sports UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar Dangi for including indoor sports associations and taking into consideration their suggestion.

Ali also thanked CPO Kargil Abdul Hadi and DYSSO Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma for organizing the meeting.

He urged WAPCOS Ltd. to make the stadium one of the best multipurpose stadiums with a limited space which will be remembered by the future generation of Kargil.
