PM Vishwakarma Scheme – Awareness and Beneficiary Outreach Programme Concluded in Kargil District

Kargil, 14 October 2026: A series of awareness and beneficiary outreach programmes under the PM Vishwakarma (PMV) Scheme concluded today at the Conference Hall of the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kargil. The programmes were organised from 9th to 14th October 2026 at Shakar Chiktan on 9th October, Sankoo on 12th October, and Kargil on 13th and 14th October, in coordination with the State Level PM Vishwakarma Management Unit (SLPMU-PMV) and participating banks.

The initiative aimed to strengthen beneficiary outreach, improve access to institutional credit, and expedite loan sanctions and disbursements under the scheme.

During the programmes, the PMV PMU team and DIC Kargil officials sensitised artisans and applicants from various traditional trades about the scheme’s benefits, particularly the collateral-free loan facility at a concessional interest rate of 5% per annum. Officials from J&K Bank and the State Bank of India (SBI) also briefed participants on loan facilities, eligibility criteria, application procedures and documentation requirements.

Interactive sessions were held to address beneficiaries’ queries regarding documentation, verification, pending applications and delays in loan processing.

Key areas discussed included:

Access to Institutional Credit: Awareness regarding collateral-free loans at concessional interest rates and the process of applying through participating banks.

Expediting Loan Sanctions and Disbursements: Review of pending applications and identification of bottlenecks, with emphasis on fast-tracking eligible cases and improving the district’s overall loan uptake.

Digital Inclusion and Market Linkages: Encouraging artisans to adopt digital payment methods and leverage online platforms to expand their market reach.

Grievance Redressal and Follow-up: Recording individual grievances relating to documentation, verification and banking procedures for follow-up with the concerned banks to ensure timely resolution.
