Pre-event activities ahead of Swachhta Pakhwada held in Kargil

 

Kargil, Sep 13, 2023: The pre-event activities for Swachhta Pakhwada, scheduled to take place from September 15 to October 2, 2023, witnessed significant participation across Kargil district today.

 

Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, MC Kargil in coordination with other departments and NYK Kargil, conducted a Swachata Pakhawada cleaning of Suru River from Fatima Chowk to Sher Bagh, Kargil.

 

During the event, volunteers from NYK, the Supervisor of MC Kargil, sweepers, and officials and employees from various departments such as PHE, RD&PRD, R&B, I&FC, Tourism, and Forest were present.

 

Similarly, under the supervision of DC Kargil, an awareness program for transport operators took place at the Conference Hall of the ARTO Office in Kargil.

 

ACR Kargil, Muhammad Sharief, District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Padma Angmoo, Executive Officer of MC Kargil, Shafqat Ali, Dy SP DAR Stanzin, ARTO Kargil, Khadim Hussain, and the staff of the ARTO office, along with transport operators, attended the event. The program had the objective of educating operators and drivers about the significance of cleanliness.

 

While discussing the significance of transport operators in promoting cleanliness, the ACR emphasized that drivers have the potential to drive positive societal change through their role in maintaining cleanliness.

 

He also urged the transport operators to refrain from using single-use plastic items. Furthermore, he expressed hope that the awareness program would yield positive results in promoting cleanliness throughout the district. He advised the drivers to take initiative at the individual level and educate passengers and family members about the importance of cleanliness.

 

While addressing the gathering, DPO Kargil emphasized that drivers, owing to their unique position, have the ability to encourage cleanliness among tourists by educating visitors about the significance of preserving a clean environment.

 

She underscored their influential role in shaping the behavior of tourists and suggested that they could serve as ambassadors for cleanliness within the district.

 

During the event, Executive Officer MC Kargil encouraged drivers to actively educate others about the importance of cleanliness. He expressed hope that drivers could play a pivotal role in influencing positive changes in waste disposal habits within the community.

 

During the event, Dy SP DAR Stanzin emphasized that drivers should make individual contributions to society. He urged them to take on the responsibility of promoting cleanliness and encouraged them to lead by setting a positive example for others to follow.

 

During his address, ARTO Kargil, Khadim Hussain urged transport operators to take it upon themselves to educate passengers, tourists, and the general public about the harmful consequences of littering and throwing waste on the roadside.

 

At the conclusion of the event, all participants took a pledge to work together diligently towards the shared goal of establishing a clean and healthy society.
