Principal Secretary chairs first joint meeting of Ladakh Price Monitoring and Resource Unit

Leh, April 12: The Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, and Chairman, Ladakh Price Monitoring and Resource Unit (LPMRU), Dr. Pawan Kotwal chaired the first joint meeting of its governing body in his office chamber today.
The Principal Secretary was felicitated by Member Secretary, LMPRU, Mohd. Bashir. He thanked Dr. Kotwal for his effort and extreme support as Ladakh gets its first Pharmacy Council.
The primary function of the Pharmacy Monitoring Resource Unit is to assist National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) in monitoring the prices of drugs, ensuring the availability of drugs, and raising consumer awareness.
Congratulating, the members present, Principal Secretary, stressed that the prices fixed by NPPA should be very well known and widely circulated. He also emphasised the collection of bills while purchasing drugs from chemists and druggists. He was apprised by the Director, NPPA, GoI, R.K Khatwani that the prices of all drugs incorporated in the First Schedule to Drug Price Control Orders (DPCO), 2013 are monitored and controlled by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA). Further, Principal Secretary directed Member Secretary, Mohd. Bashir to publicise and advertise the posts for appointment of PMRU staff as per guidelines. The Principal Secretary urged the LPMRU members to be active in spreading awareness among the citizens.
In the meeting, President Chemist and Druggist Association, Sonam Dawa informed that all the chemists and druggists in Ladakh are directed to install CCTV cameras in their shops by April 30, 2022.
Earlier, Member Secretary, LPMRU, Mohd. Bashir gave a detailed presentation on the LPMRU. He explained PMRU, the purpose of setting PMRU, and its functioning, etc.
Dr. Kotwal is known as passionate about medical and health services for his dedicated commitment to serving people.

Bashir; President, Chemist and Druggist Association, Sonam Dawa.
