Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar calls on LAHDC Kargil

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 01, 2022: Acting Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Mubarak Shah Nagvi today chaired a meeting with Principal Secretary, School Education and Housing and Urban Development, UT Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar at Council Secretariat.

The acting CEC appraised the Principal Secretary about various issues being faced by the district including school infrastructure, lack of teaching staff, blacktopping of roads in Kargil town, multi-level car parking, Aadhar enrollment, decongestion of town, time-bound promotion of teachers and other related issues.

Acting CEC desired from the Principal Secretary to look after the issues on priority. The LAHDC requested to withdraw the projects sanctioned to NHIDCL and which are not executed yet and requested to reallot them to the local agencies like R&B.

The Principal Secretary informed that the issue has already been raised and the administration is mulling to reallot some of the small projects to the local agencies.

The officials informed that the projects for Smart City are at DPR stage. The Secretary instructed officials to submit a progress report in this regard to LAHDC Kargil. He also desired from LAHDC to provide their review and suggestions on the projects for Smart City.

The meeting also discussed the exam timing of CBSE which take place in February and March every year, when the weather remains harsh. The LAHDC requested to raise the issue with CBSE and schedule the exam in November or in March and April.

The Principal Secretary assured the LAHDC to raise the issue with CBSE and chalk out a feasible solution to the problem.

Director School Education Ladakh, Safdar Ali also appraised the LAHDC about various issues. He informed that the time-bound promotion of teachers is already discussed and a decision in this regard will be made within a week.

The meeting also discussed lack of subject-specific teachers at schools, especially for mathematics and science. The Principal Secretary instructed to outsource the sanctioned posts and also assured to resolve the issue.

Besides the acting CEC, Executive Councillor for Tourism Er Phunsuk Tashi, Executive Councillor for Health Mohsin Ali, Executive Councillor for Animal Husbandry Syed Mehdi Fazily, Principal Secretary for Education and Housing and Urban Development Sanjeev Khirwar, Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Director Education Safdar Ali, CEO Mushtaq Ahmad, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Mohd Saleem Wazir and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
