Sankoo campus GDC Kargil organizes study tour
KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 06, 2022:
Department of Botany and Environmental Science, Sankoo Campus, GDC Kargil today jointly conducted one-day field study tour for BG 1st Semester students at Sangrah and its adjoining areas to aware students about the local flora.
The students were accompanied by subject incharge teacher, Dr Radeshyam Yadav, Department of Botany and Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, Department of Environmental Science.
Dr Imtiyaz Hussain, Assistant Professor Botany, GDC Drass was invited as the resource person in order to emphasize on flora of Kargil. He highlighted the importance of various plant species found during the field trip.
Dr Imtiyaz said such field studies have gained much importance in the backdrop of New Education Policy which is being designed to impart research aptitude and practical knowledge among students.
The students noted the important points regarding the flora which they observed during the trip. They collected different plant samples to prepare a herbarium. The students studied various plants and came up with an overwhelming response.
The students were instructed to prepare a presentation after returning from the tour which shall be held on September 10, 2022.
The subject incharge teachers and students thanked Principal GDC Kargil, Dr Amina Qari and Nodal Officer Sankoo Campus, Prof. Salim Ahmed for approving the study tour.
