Secretary Tourism and Culture convened meeting related to working and performance of Tourism Development Authorities

Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, convened a meeting today related to working and performance of the Tourism Development Authorities (TDAs) of Ladakh at the UT Secretariat, Leh.
Highlighting the role of Tourism Development Authorities (TDAs) post creation of the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Secretary emphasised that the TDAs need to reorient their working to meet the needs of planned quality infrastructure in their respective jurisdictions based on proper analysis and planning and keeping in view the requirement of modern critical tourism-related infrastructure with emphasis on carbon neutrality, solar passivity, winter-friendly structure, use of local material (as far as possible) and disabled-friendly access along with local architecture.
The performance of the TDAs was reviewed in the meeting. Moreover, shortage of manpower in the TDAs was also discussed. Further, discussion on the constitution of the TDAs and creation of posts for Nubra Development Authority (NDA) was also carried out.
The Secretary laid emphasis on timely completion of the ongoing projects/schemes and directed them to ensure timely processing of bills and payments. The Secretary also stated that the TDAs needs to make realistic plan for the financial year 2022-23.
The meeting was attended by the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, Lakshya Singhal; Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kargil Development Authority (KDA), Abdul Gaffar Zargar; CEO, Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA), Sonam Dorjay, and Executive Engineer, Leh Development Authority (LDA), Tsering Angchuk.
