Swift joint rescue operation launched after building collapse in Kabadi Nallah, injured evacuated safely

CEC, DC, and SSP visit collapse site to assess situation; visit DH Kargil to ensure comprehensive medical care for injured

Kargil, August 03, 2024: Following the incident of building collapse today morning (3rd August, 2024) near Kabadi Nallah in Kargil Town, swift joint rescue operation was launched and the injured were evacuated safely.

The rescue operation was led by SSP Kargil consisting Ladakh Police/UTDRF, Revenue Department, 121 Brigade of Indian Army, MC Kargil, Health Department Kargil along with volunteers of Al-Reza Health Care & Research Foundation Kargil, Ladakh (ISK) and Baseej e Iman (IKMT) to ensure safe evacuation of the injured persons.

The incident took place in early morning wherein a building in Kabadi Nalla area of Kargil collapsed, resulting in injuries to 12 individuals. All were safely evacuated after rescue operation and medical care is being provided to injured ones at District Hospital Kargil.

Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhone, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil Shrikant Suse and Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil visited the site to assess the situation.

They also visited District Hospital to check the status of the injured. On spot directions were given to hospital authorities to provide comprehensive medical care to injured persons.

Meanwhile, an enquiry has been ordered by DM Kargil which will be conducted by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil. Also, an FIR has been filed by PS Kargil vide FIR no. 31 U/S 125(a) BNS and investigation is underway. District Administration is in constant touch with injured and relief being provided to them through Red Cross Society.

Directions have been issued to MC Kargil as well as Revenue Department to keep strict vigil on similar cases in the vulnerable areas to avoid such incidents in future.
