The Urban Local Bodies, UT Ladakh headed by Director, Housing and Urban Development Moses Kunzang (JKAS) is participating in the ‘Circular Cities Summit 2024: A revolution in Urban Sustainability’ at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai from October 16th – 18th 2024. The three-day event is organized by National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) in partnership with IFAT India. Other participating members from Ladakh includes Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Leh and Manager SBM Ladakh Fariha Yousuf.
The summit is India’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, solid waste, and recycling technologies and provides a platform for solution providers, start-ups, and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to showcase innovative solutions and good practices in the waste management sector.
Urban Local Bodies, UT Ladakh has set up a stall at the fair, highlighting various achievements of the department. The stall also featured booklets and pamphlets on works and vision of the department and recycled products. Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Leh, Stanzin Rabgyas will present a case study on Liquid and Solid Waste Management in Hill towns of Leh on October 17, 2024.
UT Ladakh has implemented multiple initiatives in waste management, particularly in Leh, addressing water and sanitation issues. These collaborative efforts with residents of Leh aim to achieve the long-term vision of a “Happy Liveable Leh.”
The Circular Cities Summit 2024 is part of the 11th edition of IFAT India. The summit aims to provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, showcase innovations, and develop strategies for sustainable urban development.
