Leh, December 26, 2025: The Department of Social and Tribal Welfare, UT Ladakh organized a state-level celebration of Veer Bal Diwas 2025 to honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of children. The programme commenced with the live telecast of the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu’s address, during which she conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Leh, Shri Romil Singh Donk (IAS), who attended as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries present included Smt. Kunzes Angmo, Director, Social and Tribal Welfare Department; Shri A.G. Zargar, DPO (ICDS) Leh; Shri Safder Bhat, District Social Welfare Officer/ District Child Protection Officer Leh; Dr. Subrath Sharma, Dean Academics, University of Ladakh; Dr. Phuntsog Angmo, Chief Proctor, University of Ladakh; and Smt. Youdol, CDPO Leh, along with officials and staff of the Social Welfare Department.
Welcoming the dignitaries, the District Social Welfare Officer Leh highlighted the significance of the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Leh emphasized that children represent the nation’s future and described Veer Bal Diwas as a moment of reflection, remembrance, resilience, and responsibility.
Director Social and Tribal Welfare Department, Kunzes Angmo, also briefed the audience on various activities conducted across Child Care Institutions (CCIs) in UT Ladakh as part of the Veer Bal Diwas observance, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to child welfare and empowerment.
