Various delegations from Barsoo, Bhodkharbu, Hundar and Tegar call on Advisor, Ladakh; raise issues concerning development of their areas

Leh, May 23: A delegation comprising Councillor Barsoo, Ghulam Mohd Ansari; Nambardar, Mohd Ali; Panches, Mohd Ibrahim and Mohd Shafi called on the Advisor, Ladakh, Umang Narula at UT Secretariat today. The delegation raised several issues on behalf of the people of Barsoo Valley pertaining to improvement in infrastructure and education sectors, including construction of school and primary health centre; internet and communication issues; improving road connectivity, etc. They also briefed about the potential of Barsoo Valley as a tourist destination and requested for intervention to untap the full touristic potential of the valley which has a rich cultural and natural heritage.

 

The delegation from Bhodkarbu apprised the Advisor about their mass plantation drive under ‘Go Green Go Organic’ committee which is an initiative by H.H Skyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche in respect of environmental challenges and to promote greener earth.

 

Another delegation led by the Sarpanch Hundar, Stanzin Choldan and Sarpanch Tegar, Rigzin Wangdu requested redressal of several issues, including flood protection bunds along the Siachen River and Paylagmo Hunder; repair of roads; permission for ATV bikes, etc.

 

The Advisor emphasized the importance of promoting solar lift irrigation schemes for bringing new areas under cultivation. He assured all delegations of careful examination of all their genuine demands.
