Wildlife Protection Division, Kargil celebrates World Wildlife Day

Kargil, March 3, 2023: Wildlife Protection Division, Kargil, UT Ladakh today celebrated World Wildlife Day at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kargil.

Executive Councilor, Wildlife and Forest, LAHDC, Kargil Mohsin Ali was the chief guest, Vice Principal GDC, Kargil, Dr Javed Iqbal was the guest of honour, Wildlife Warden, Kargil Raza Ali Abidi, besides students of different institutes and officials of Wildlife Protection Division Kargil were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, EC Mohisn talked about empowering women and youth in different streams of studies including wildlife. He appreciated the Wildlife Protection Division, Kargil initiative in conducting the program enthusiastically.

Dr Javed talked about encouraging wildlife studies in Kargil and mentioned that the district is a reserve of highly valuable medicinal and aromatic plants.

Wildlife Warden, Kargil Raza Ali Abidi acknowledged the guests and appreciated the collective participation of students in the event. He emphasized on boosting wildlife research in Kargil region.

Various themes like creative painting, seminar competition were conducted during the event and students from different institutes actively participated in the program.

The competition was evaluated by jury members that include Anwar Hussain, Mohd Yousuf and Gulzar Hussain. A presentation on ‘Wildlife of Ladakh with special reference to Kargil’ was given by Niazul H. Khan (Ph.D. Scholar).
