3-day capacity-building training program on ECBC, ENS concludes in Kargil

Kargil, October 08, 2022: Power Development Department (PDD) Ladakh under the guidance of Chief Engineer, PDD Ghulam Ahmed Mir in collaboration with The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) today concluded the three -day long capacity-building training program on Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and Eco Niwas Samhita (ENS) at Conference Hall, Baroo.

The training program emphasized on means to energy conservation at commercial and residential buildings as its consumption has tremendously increased in the country.

J.K Vyas and Manoj Singh presided as master trainers for the third day of the training program. They gave a detailed presentation on the pattern of electricity consumption in commercial and residential buildings in the country.

Singh informed, the engineers present, on the occasion that in near future there would be shortage of energy. So it is necessary to inform people how to improve energy efficiency. Engineers who participated in training program were practically trained in workshop.

A detailed discussion was held during the program on electrical heating appliances for cold areas like Ladakh. The participants were also made aware of usage of equipment like heat pump water heater, geothermal heat-pump etc.

Singh showed the techniques of warming building floors, especially in cold areas.

Vyas said the program was aimed to spread awareness about energy conservation among the people of Kargil. He said that the program was successful with the help and support of PDD Kargil.

He further added that the energy conservation program in Kargil is a series of several programs and combined with many aspects in conserving energy. In the end, Vyas thanked all the stakeholders for making the event successful.

Executive Engineer KDA Murup Dorjay, Executive Engineer PMGSY Manzoor Ahmad, JE KREDA Mohd Ibrahim, AEE PMGSY Fiza Banoo, JE KDA Mohd Ali, and other dignitaries of various departments attended the training program.
