DC Kargil visits Barsoo Block, takes stock of developmental works

KARGIL, NOVEMBER 29, 2021

Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve visited Barsoo Block today where he inspected various developmental works in the area.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police Anayat Ali Choudhary, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sankoo Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, Superintending Engineer PWD Kargil Er Tashi Tundup, Executive Engineer Suru Valley Division Er Shabbir Hussain, Councillor Barsoo Sheikh Ghulam Muhammad Ansari, Tehsildar Sankoo Kaneez Fatima , BDC Chairperson, PRI Members, Nambardars besides other concerned officers.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve visited the helipad being constructed at Hartung Barsoo and took stock of work progress on the site. He instructed to accelerate the pace of work while ensuring best quality construction.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the development of road connectivity to Itchoo village. The concerned officers informed that only two kilometers of road is left to be developed and assured to complete the remaining works by next year.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve enquired about various facilities like electricity, water supply, education and health facilities at the village. It was informed that the village will be covered with water pipeline connectivity by next year under Jal Jeevan Mission for which the collection chamber has already been constructed, and pipes have reached at the work site.

En route, the Deputy Commissioner visited Government Higher Secondary School Barsoo and took stock of various facilities at the institution.The school authorities projected demand for teaching staff, school bus and mobile connectivity. Responding to the demands, the DC assured to do the needful to resolve the issues.

Later, DC Santosh Sukhadeve visit Government Middle School Thila and inspected the availability of teaching staff, classrooms, sanitary points and midday meal. The DC assured to provide metal grill for the school windows and a CCTV camera.

The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with public delegations at various villages including Hartung, Hamburtik, Hamalik, Purkichay and Patoo where the locals submitted memoranda to the DC demanding blacktopping of roads, water connections, internet connectivity, teaching staff at schools, healthcare facilities, snow clearance machines and other related issues.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the public demands and assured people of suitable follow up measures.He  informed that requisition for additional mobile towers have already been sent which will be installed next year to properly connect the whole Barsoo area, adding he  said that the District Administration is mulling on combining schools with minimum roll which will resolve the shortage of teaching staff at schools to a great extent.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve informed that electricity connectivity in the area is already in progress. He said that the far flung village of Itchoo was connected to the grid, but the recent untimely heavy snowfall interrupted the connection which will be restored in next few days.

The Deputy Commissioner also assured to address the health related issues after consultation with the concerned authorities. He urged the public to support the executing agencies in proper execution of the JJM works to resolve water issues in the area.
