5-Day training on eContent development begins in Leh

Leh, Oct 17: A training on the development of digital content for the faculties of DIET, Leh/Kargil was inaugurated by the Dy Chairman/EC Education, Tsering Angchuk today. Joint Director, CIET-NCERT New Delhi, Prof. Amarendra P Behera was the guest of honor. Director School Education Ladakh, Dr. Safdar Ali, CEO Leh, SD Namgyal; Principal DIET Leh, Chetan Dorjey; Principal DIET Kargil, Maulvi Kayum, and officials/trainers from CIET-NCERT New Delhi as well as the faculties from DIET Leh & Kargil attended the inaugural function.

In his address, Dy Chairman Angchuk stated that educators are trying out their best to access digital content, especially after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. He highlighted various initiatives at the Council’s level to make schools digitally equipped. He also stated that NEP-2020 has provided opportunities especially in accessing local content for the students. He stressed the need for developing creative content for the students. Dy Chairman expressed gratitude to the resource persons from CIET-NCERT for reaching out to Ladakh for conducting the training.

Joint Director, CIET-NCERT New Delhi, Prof. Amarendra stressed the need to develop more educational technologies and ICT-based learnings as recommended for online and digital education in the NEP-2020. He further informed the gathering of various Digital initiatives developed by NCERT for educators which include PMeVIDYA, DIKSHA, ePathshala, NISHTHA, SWAYAM, etc. Furthermore, he added that there is s need to develop quality eContent and share it through various mediums to enable access for educators and students.

Earlier, Director of School Education Ladakh presented the opening remarks with an overview of the School Education Department Ladakh and its functioning, etc. Program Coordinator, Dr. Angel Rathnabai briefed the session on the 5-day training program.

All the guests and dignitaries were felicitated during the inaugural program.
