5th General Election of LAHDC Kargil: First round of contesting candidates’ expenditure register verification held

 

Kargil, Sept 01, 2023: The 1st Round of inspection of the expenditure register for candidates participating in the 5th LAHDC Elections 2023 and the dissemination of information on campaign expenditure took place today at the Conference Hall in Baroo.

 

Nodal Officer EEM/ECR Kargil, Iftikhar Hussain, led the program in presence of Deputy SP Headquarters Kargil Manzoor Hussain. Additionally, contesting candidates/authorised representatives participated in the expenditure register inspection.

 

The session provided brief introduction about the rules of election expenditure and filling Expenditure by contesting parties on how to prepare their expenditure registers and also on how to review the registers that have been prepared up to the current date.

 

During the program, the Nodal Officer provided candidates with comprehensive information regarding the monitoring of expenditure, including expenditure limits, legally permissible expenses, and expenditures that are not allowed under the law.

 

He also discussed the objectives of expenditure monitoring and explained that notices would be issued if the candidates’ expenditures exceed the established limits.

 

During the event, the Deputy SP Headquarters emphasized that the purpose of the session was to ensure the smooth conduct of the 5th General Council Elections and to enhance transparency in the electoral process.

 

A minimum of three rounds of expenditure register checks will be conducted, with the final verification taking place after the elections. All the verified records will then be submitted to the Election Authority within 30 days from the declaration of results.
