Environment conscious Climate Cup 2023 Football tournament commences in Leh 

 

Leh, Sept 01: The first of its kind, environmentally conscious football tournament ‘Climate Cup 2023’, driving the message of climate change, commenced with the symbolic inaugural ceremony attended by Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson as the chief guest at Astroturf Open Stadium, Spituk, Leh.

 

Other dignitaries including Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk; EC Tsering Namgyal Yakzee; EC Stanzin Chosphel; LAHDC Leh Councillors; Secretary Sports, Ravinder Kumar; AIG (Pers) PHQ Ladakh, Stanzin Nurboo; Chief Manager, Public Relations, Power Grid, Vinod Koul; District officers; concerned stakeholders and officials from KESF and Ladakh Football Association were also present.

 

Commencing the Climate Cup 2023 at an altitude of 11000ft, two energizing and enthralling matches were played between Delhi FC versus Tibet National team and UT Ladakh Team versus 1 Ladakh FC. In the earlier match, Delhi FC won against the Tibet team with a 4:2 score, and later 1 Ladakh FC won with a 2:1 score against UT Ladakh Team.

 

The week-long Climate Cup 2023 emphasizes sending across the world a message about the impact of climate change and attempts to be an environment-friendly tournament with the use of recycled kits, e-buses with minimal waste policies, and the promotion of sustainable local products.
