Secretary, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan takes stock of tourism infrastructure development works at Durbuk, Nyoma Sub Division

Stresses on strict adherence to quality parameters, completion of works at the earliest

Leh, Aug 11: During his visit to various villages in Nyoma and Durbuk Sub Division, Secretary, Tourism and Culture Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan inspected the pace of progress achieved on various tourism infrastructural development works and planned development of border villages. He also reviewed the status of preparedness of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign at these places.

The Secretary visited Tangste, Pangong, Chushul, Meraq, Punguk, Hanley, Mahe, Chumathang etc. and took stock of the status of execution of works on various ongoing tourism development works, and gave on spot directions to the concerned officers for completion of these works well within the stipulated timelines. He also stressed on strict adherence to the parameters as per DPR to ensure quality of works.

At Tangste, Secretary, Khan instructed the concerned officers to prepare DPR for up gradation of facilities at the Tourism Dak Bungalow, which has been used as a COVID centre till now. He also directed the officers concerned to frame DPR for necessary repair and renovation of tourism huts at Pangong. He met & listened to public representatives also.

Reiterating the commitment of the UT Administration, Ladakh for development of necessary infrastructure in border villages, Secretary, Khan directed the concerned officers to finalise the DPR for development of Chushul and Punguk as model border villages in consultation with the villagers/local stakeholders. He met the village representatives and listened to their demands.

The Secretary also directed the concerned officers to prepare necessary plan in consultation with the Engineer incharge of Astronomical Observatory of IIAP Dorje Angchuk at Hanle for fixing and installation of telescope, which is reaching soon, for astro-tourism. He also visited the Hanle Monastery and directed the concerned officers to immediately tender out the construction of museum work.

Inspecting the progress achieved on the construction of wayside amenity at Mahe, the Secretary directed the concerned officers to accelerate the pace of work so that the facility is completed and operationalised very soon for tourists and visitors.

Interacting with Panchayat members and other village representatives at Chumathang, the Secretary stressed that the hot spring is being developed to make the area an important hot water massage centre and tourist attraction.

Director, Tourism Department, Ladakh Kunzes Angmo; Sub Divisional Magistrate, Durbuk, Shakeel Ahmad Malik; Executive Engineer, Leh Development Authority, Tsering Angchuk; Engineer In-Charge IAO Dorje Angchuk; Under Secretary/OSD, Tourism and Culture, Muhammad Ali Tak besides other concerned officers accompanied the Secretary at the respective places during the tour.
