CEC Khan visits Photang-Vihar Padum Zanskar to review preparations ahead of HH Dalai Lama’s visit to Zanskar

KARGIL, AUGUST 11, 2022: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan on Wednesday visited Photang-Vihar Padum Zanskar to review preparations ahead of His Holiness Dalai Lama’s visit to Zanskar.

Executive Councillor for Tourism, RD and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsok Tashi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Kargil Anayat Ali Chowdhary, CMO Kargil, SDM Zanskar, Project Director KREDA, besides representatives of Zanskar Buddhist Association accompanied the CEC during the visit.

CEC Khan took a detailed assessment of the infrastructure and other facilities in and around the premises of the Photang.

 

Khan was informed that the construction and renovation works of the Photang was done at an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 crores by R&B Department Kargil within a short span of time considering Dalai Lama’s visit.

 

The CEC expressed satisfaction over the works and directed that all arrangements and facilities must be ensured considering the 3-day stay of His Holiness in Zanskar.

 

He was informed that Preaching Hall, where HH Dalai Lama will address his disciples, has been extended and renovated while blacktopping of the link road has also been completed.

 

The representatives of the Zanskar Buddhist Association expressed gratitude to LAHDC and the District Administration for completing all the arrangements within a short span of time. They further forwarded some demands including improvement in cellular connectivity and Guest House.

 

On the occasion, EC Tashi also briefed about the all arrangements and expressed optimism that the graceful presence of Dalai Lama will bring peace and prosperity in the region.

 

DC Santosh said that Dalai Lama’s visit to Zanskar is a historic event and his graceful presence is a gift to the people of Zanskar adding in this regard administration is making all its efforts for successful execution of the events associated with the visit.
