National Sports Day celebrated at GDC Khaltse

Leh, Aug 31: Government Degree College, Khaltse celebrated National Sports Day on August 29, commemorating the Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary and honouring the contribution and dedication of sports heroes in bringing laurels to the country.

The Sports Committee of GDC Khaltse organised a series of activities, such as the tug of war and carom competition between the students and faculty members.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal, GDC Khaltse, Prof Stanzin Yangdol encouraged students to participate in sports activities to stay fit and healthy.

Earlier, College Director of Physical and Sports, Sonam Chosphail, highlighted the importance of sports in daily life and encouraged the students to participate in all sports activities in his welcome address.

Later, the winners and participants were felicitated with certificates.

Meanwhile, the students of GDC Khaltse who secured 1st position in the skit competition in the recently held Youth Festival Ldumra’, organised by the University of Ladakh, were also felicitated.
