Padum, September 25: Traditional Ladakhi tourist information signboards, maps and destination photographs showcasing Zanskar’s cultural, natural and adventure tourism attractions were unveiled at the main town of Padum on Friday.
The displays were unveiled by Divisional Commissioner, UT Ladakh, Shurbir Singh, IAS, and Director General of Police, UT Ladakh, Anand Jain, IPS, in the presence of Secretary, PWD, Baseer Ul Haq Chaudhary, IAS; DIG Police, Altaf Ahmad Khan, IPS; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS; SP Zanskar, Rigzen Sandup, JKPS; SDM Zanskar, Sarwar Shahzad, JKAS, and other district officers.
Installed by the Tourism Department, UT Ladakh, under the directions of Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, the displays are intended to provide visitors with accessible information on Zanskar’s important tourist destinations.
The installations at Padum include maps and photographs featuring monasteries, adventure sites, landscapes and wildlife locations. The displays provide information on the geography, cultural significance and attractions of different destinations, with an emphasis on informed and responsible tourism.
Traditional Ladakhi information signboards have also been installed at various destinations, including Gonbo Rangjon, Phukthar Monastery, Zangla Palace, Karsha Monastery, Drang-Drung Glacier and Penzila Pass.
The department said the installations would help visitors explore the region in a more informed and systematic manner while supporting responsible tourism practices.
