GDC Kargil organizes webinar, quiz competition on Indian National Movement

As a part of the 75 years of India’s Independence-Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Department of Physical Education and Sports, Government Degree College (GDC), Kargil organised a day long webinar-um-quiz competition here today.
The theme of the event was “Indian National Movement” which was organized to commemorate the 75 years of progressive and glorious independence history of the country and to pay tributes and salute all the freedom fighters for their sacrifice and contribution in the Indian freedom movement.
Faculty members and students from different colleges participated in the event.
On the occasion Assistant Professor History Gulzar Hussain spoke at length about the Indian National Movement and highlighted as to how and when national movement started in the country. He said that during the British Rule, the Britishers subjugated and controlled India not only economically but also kept the Indians deprived of all developmental activities, rights and foreign policies and pushed Indian people to live in misery, adding this pinched a rise of mass agitation and rebellion against the British rule all over the country.
Indian National Movement was a series of historic events with the ultimate aim of ending the British rule in India, the Assistant Professor stated.
He also threw light on the role of the Indian National Congress and its contribution in Indian freedom and also spoke about various movements like the Non-Cooperation Movement, Swadeshi Movement, Dandi March and Satyagraha.
Meanwhile, an online quiz competition was also conducted during the event wherein a good number of students from different colleges participated.
Kaniz Fatima of BG-5th Semester GDC, Kargil secured the 1st position, Fatima Noori of BG-6th Semester of Gandhi College for Women, Jammu bagged the 2nd prize while Fatima Zahra of BG-1st Semester GDC, Kargil secured the 3rd position.
Programme Coordinator, Muhammad Yaseen presented vote of thanks while the overall proceedings of the event were coordinated by the Co-Coordinator Muhammad Ishaq.
