LIFE WITHOUT INTERNET

In lifewithoutinternet-land, you’d be back to a standard check book and calling your bank to find out your balance. It also means paying bills would take much longer, as banks would also be less connected. Social life: Hanging out with friends would go back to the methods of yesteryear.

Living with no internet is indeed a possibility , but at the same time life is very tough in the era of Internet and in such Pandemic.

The world would be ours to create because we would have no way to understanding each other, and possibly the world. But there would be no way to communicate this to others.  Even without verbal or written communication the world would thrive on language, body language.

In Kargil Ladakh since independence there are still places without basic needs, Like Internet Facilities, Banking, Road connectivity and some basic infrastructures.

After Ladakh became a Union Territory, there are several villages like Zanskar, Umba, Sangrah & many villages gets mobile connectivity.

But at the same time there are places like Hunderman, Kaksar, Barsoo Nala, Itchoo, Parkachik, Kukshow, & many other villages are still in que to install a mobile tower, so that they can also take the advantages of internet.

As we all know that the benefits of internet is Connectivity, communication, sharing Information, knowledge, learning, Address, mapping, contact information, selling and making money, banking, bills, shopping, donations, funding, entertainment, work from home, collaboration, and access to a global workforce.

The students community in large from villages where still no access of Internet demanding for installation of mobile towers.

After the COVID19 breake-out the classes of many students missed, due to non availability of Interent.

As a result, students are facing difficulties in online educational activities due to non availability of internet.

No internet penetration has turned e-education into a distant dream for many children in the rural areas.

Despite pandemic restrictions students from Shimsha village in Drass daily travel 2-3 km to get proper mobile network for online classes.
“If they don’t move out of their houses they would lose their precious academic year,” student from Shimsha Kharboo added.

However, representatives of the village visited offices of LG, DM, CEC and even the MP to get solution for the network problem and were promised installation of a mobile tower last year but nothing took place on ground.
“It is very wrong that the students are made to risk their lives in this pandemic to prevent the loss of academic year because of lack of mobile connectivity in their village,” some villagers informed adding that in this regard the concerned officials should consider the demand of installation of mobile tower seriously otherwise the students have no choice but to risk their lives.

The same situation in most of the remotest areas of Kargil, The UT Ladakh Admin must ensure for mobile internet connectivity across Ladakh. As a mission of Digital India.
