Telecom Minister handed over the list of 224 villages of Ladakh to MP JTN, set to get 4G teleconnectivity to uncovered villages for mobile 4G services soon
New Delhi, 7th Augest 2022; Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal called on Sh. Ashwini Vaishnaw Hon’ble Minister of Communications & Electronics, Information Technology and Railways today in Delhi and received the list of 224 villages of Ladakh approved by Union Cabinet to invest Rs. 1 Crore on an average in each of these villages to build 4G infrastructure and Ladakh MP extends gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble Telecom Minister Sh. Ashwini Vaishnaw for fulfilling the requirments of Ladakh on priority basis.
Realising Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision of Digital India ensuring digital inclusion and connectivity for all is an integral part of ‘antyodaya’ vision of the Government, the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji had approved the project for saturation of 4G mobile services in uncovered villages across the country including 107 for Kargil and 16 for Zangskar in Kargil District and 101 for Leh District of Union Territory in Ladakh. The total cost of Project is Rs. 230 Cr and it will provide 4G mobile services in 224 uncovered villages in remote and difficult areas in the Union Territory of Ladakh and in addition, 164 villages having only 2G/3G connectivity shall be upgraded to 4G. Central Government will invest Rs. 1 Crore on an average in each of these villages to build 4G infrastructure in Ladakh.
Earlier Ladakh MP JTN got sanctioned 73 Jio Tower under Unionversal Service Obligation Funding (USOF) of Govt. of India and as on date Ladakh has 504 towers on air including 170 towers of Jio, Airtel and BSNL installed after 2019.
