Month-long theatre workshop by LAHDC Leh & NSD begins in Leh
Leh Sep 02: LAHDC Leh in collaboration with the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi has organised a month-long residential ‘Theatre Workshop’ for the theatre enthusiasts of Leh Ladakh. The workshop was formally launched on the 29th of August by the Executive Councillor for Art & Culture, Stanzin Chosphel in the presence of faculties from NSD Delhi and camp director and programme supervisor, Sonam Stobgais who’s an alumnus of the National School of Drama.
“The objective behind organising this workshop is to train our youths through various art forms helping them develop their personalities and impart crucial life skills. The workshop is being conducted by the Hill Council, Leh in collaboration with the National School of Drama and it is being mentored under the dynamism and supervision of Sonam Stobgais (NSD Alum) with the assistance of the faculties from NSD,” stated Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson.
“Theatre, as a form of art not only develops skills but completely transforms an artist into a specific discipline through the ways of performing Yoga, Martial Arts, Craft Music and by learning Psychodynamics of mind,” stated Sonam Stobgais.
Complete boarding and lodging are being provided for twenty participants from Leh and one from Kargil sponsored by LAHDC Leh and NSD. The classes begin at 8 in the morning every day till 7 in the evening with breaks in between.
The faculties from NSD include Abhilash Pillai (Theatre Appreciation, Improvisations), Jadumani Singh (Craft & Martial Arts), Jilmil Hazarika (Yoga and Music), and Debarati, Associate Director. More faculties from NSD would join the workshop as the day progress. Interaction sessions with local experts in the said fields would also be conducted during the workshop.
