Ad Tourism launches Travel for LiFE programme with this week’s theme “Save Water” at Kargil

KARGIL, JULY 30 : Assitant Director Tourism today launched The Ministry of Tourism Travel for LiFE program under Mission LiFE to bring large-scale behavioural change among tourists and tourism businesses, which will have a significant impact on environment protection and climate action.

During the occasion, Asst. Manager for Ladakh from Ministry of Tourism -Ali Asgar, President, All Kargil Tour and Travel Association, Mohd Hassanain, Treasurer AKTTA, Fayaz Ahmad, Media Coordinator, AKTTA, Imaran Mala, Website Manager, Ladakh Times, Niyaz Ali beside other staffs of tourism department were present.

At the outset, Assitant Director Tourism Kargil, highlighted the need of sustainability in tourism and Industry collaboration in achieving the objective.
He said that every week such programme will be organised in coordination with different stakeholders, hoteliers, taxi operators on different topics. This week’s theme as per the calander was “SAVE WATER” .
He underscored how tourism can be aligned with LiFE Mission and also introduced the Travel for LiFE campaign launched by Ministry of Tourism.

The participants also took the Travel for LiFE pledge to commit themselves towards travelling responsibly.

The program has identified an illustrative list of “Travel for LiFE Actions” that can be adopted by tourists and tourism businesses and to create awareness and facilitate the adoption of these actions, a variety of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities and Capacity Building initiatives have been proposed as part of the program.

Apt to mention here that As a run-up to the World Tourism Day 2023 Celebration, the Ministry of Tourism has rolled out a weekly calendar, centred around specific themes, which has been circulated among the states to facilitate the implementation of the Travel for LiFE program.
