ADC, Kargil flags off World No Tobacco Day Rally

KARGIL, 30 MAY : Additional Deputy Commisioner , Kargil Ghulam Moid ud Din Wani today flagged Off World No Tobacco Rally from Old District Hospital Kargil.

During the event, Dy CMO, Dr Abass, Medical Superintendent, Dr Haji Mohd Ali, Dr Jaleel District Immunistaion Officer, Dr Rabia District Health Officer beside other concerned were present.

The event was organised by District Health Society Kargil with the theme “ We need food, not tobacco”.

Talking to media, ADC Kargil said that the main objective of the rally is to create awareness among the people about harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use.

He said that World No Tobacco Day programme will remain continue till 15 June 2023 and Anti Tobacco Campaign will be organised in different block headquarters and health and wellness centres.

He added that tobacco use is not only harmful to people’s health, but it also harms the family putting them in emotional, physical and financial distress.

Incharge Chief Medical Officer, Dr Abass said that usage of tobacco causes cancers of the mouth , throat and lungs.

The near and dear ones of tobacco users also prone to many side effects and tobacco destroy oral hygiene, he said.

He further added that the health department is going to organise Tobacco Free Educational institutions campaign in schools and to spread awareness about harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use.

Students from Mutahhary Public School, Kargil, Govt Girls Hr Secondary School and GNM Schools participated in the rally which culminated at inquilab manzil Kargil.
